Allie is an experienced psychologist who has worked in the healthcare sector for 13 years. She has completed postgraduate studies in
psychology and as part of her PhD research examined mindfulness based approaches to sleep difficulties. She has worked across a range of
settings including private practice; sleep clinics; in school settings; and as a presenter and group facilitator.
Armed with a passion for research and learning, Allie prides herself on the wide range of therapeutic skills she has developed. She draws on various evidence-based treatments to provide a holistic, integrative approach in tailoring treatment to each individual’s needs. Allie is experienced in supporting individuals and couples with relationship challenges, anxiety, life transitions, trauma, depression, sleep disorders, sexual dysfunction, and chronic illness. Allie has a warm and friendly approach ensuring her clients feel at ease in the therapeutic setting.
Allie is a fully registered psychologist. Allie completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours at Swinburne University before completing a
Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy. Allie went on to complete a PhD in Psychology at RMIT University. Allie is a member of the
Australian Psychological Society.
Allie spent two years volunteering with lifeline as a telephone counsellor.
Allie has completed a PhD in Psychology, with a focus on the mindfulness-based treatment of insomnia at RMIT University. Allie has worked as a sleep technician at Austin Health and spent several years as a psychologist working in a sleep disorders clinic. Allie has also completed research examining the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Allie is passionate about research and staying up to date with the latest therapeutic approaches.
Allie has a wide range of therapeutic skills developed from a range of orientations including interpersonal psychotherapy; cognitive
behaviour therapy; mindfulness-based approaches (MBSR and MBCT); acceptance and commitment therapy; dialectical behaviour therapy; schema
therapy; art therapy; psychodynamic psychotherapy and narrative therapy. She uses these flexibly; depending on the needs, and goals of the
client or clients she is working with.
Allie strives to be a therapist that clients feel comfortable with, and is skilled at providing understanding and compassion to those who have had a hard time being understood. Clients often value that Allie takes notice of the unspoken. She is very passionate about relationships, and works with individuals and couples to overcome obstacles to improve romantic relationships, family relationships, work relationships, friendships and to become connected to the world around them from a place of authenticity. She helps clients to understand their relationship patterns, including those who are single and struggling to understand why they are not finding the relationships that they would love to be in. She also assists clients to be more aware of and improve the relationship they have with themselves.
