Marathon therapy offers an intensive alternative to traditional weekly couples therapy sessions. It is a short-term, intensive therapy
process that enables couples to move through gridlocked conflict and begin to rebuild their relationship.
Extended marriage therapy sessions have the benefit of reducing couples distress, addressing specific conflict issues, and increasing
connection and intimacy, leading to a stronger, more resilient and satisfying relationship. We offer both online marathon couples
counselling and face to face intensive marathon relationship counselling.
Marathon Therapy is fast becoming one of the most popular and successful approaches to helping couples through
relationship crisis.
Intensive therapy may be beneficial if:
To begin we will complete a thorough online relationship assessment including a comprehensive
online questionnaire, a couples assessment session and an individual session with each partner. The assessment process is designed
to get a clear picture of your relationship including the strengths and issues you bring into therapy as well as understanding each of
you as individuals. Your assessment can be completed online in the weeks leading up to your intensive couples therapy treatment.
Once your online psychologist has developed a comprehensive understanding of you and your relationship they will develop a personalised
treatment plan. In most instances your online psychologist will suggest a two-day marathon. A one day marathon may be suitable for couples
seeking preventative care, couples with a strong relationship that are gridlocked on a particular issue, or couples interested in
preparing for a key relationship transition such as getting married or having a baby.
COST INCLUDES:
Thorough pre-marathon online relationship assessment, including 3 video consultation sessions (1 couple and 2 individual sessions, one with each partner) as well as a comprehensive online assessment questionnaires.
Development of a comprehensive treatment plan by your psychologist prior to the commencement of your intensive relationship counselling
